Who can apply?
A formal teaching qualification is valuable, but not an automatic requirement. We look for current legal knowledge, relevant evidence and the ability to help a learner develop their own reasoning. Teaching experience strengthens an application without acting as the only gate.
You may be a high-performing recent graduate, SQE or Bar candidate, postgraduate researcher, teaching assistant, mentor or mooting coach. Show current subject command and how you help another person think for themselves.
Useful evidence: strong relevant results, mentoring, workshops, seminars, peer support, mooting or carefully explained study resources.
You may already teach one-to-one, lead seminars, lecture, mark formative work or support learners online. Explain how you diagnose gaps, adapt your approach and turn feedback into independent progress.
Useful evidence: tutoring history, module teaching, learner-support responsibilities, marking, curriculum design or teaching qualifications.
You may be a solicitor, barrister, paralegal, legal researcher or subject specialist. Professional standing alone is not enough: show how your experience becomes accurate, structured and assessment-aware learning.

Academic integrity is non-negotiable.
Tutoring should strengthen a learner’s own analysis and writing. It must never become ghost-writing or completion of assessed work.

No. Tutors work with The Law Tutors as independent contractors. There is no employment relationship, no guaranteed work and no minimum number of hours. Each engagement remains optional and its rate and scope are agreed separately.
Current opportunities are for online tutoring. Tutors need a reliable internet connection, a suitable private teaching environment and the ability to communicate clearly with learners remotely.
