Terms
1. Introduction
1.1. For the purposes of these Terms, ‘the Tutor’ refers to The Law Tutors, (Keane Davison t/a The Law Tutors) the provider of the relevant tuition. However, the Tutor role may at any time be transferred to another person as a sub contractor or another entity. If this is the case, these terms are deemed to be transferred to the subcontractor and the student.
1.2. The Tutor facilitates private tuition and provide services to tutees in line with support for their legal studies.
2. Acceptance of these terms
2.1. Upon confirmation of the job on Tutorbird / by email and by fulfilment of the tuition, the Student will be considered to have accepted these terms in their entirety.
2.2. In accepting these terms, it is understood that the Tutor can make no guarantee as to the outcome of classes in respect of grades achieved. The quality of academic work remains the Student’s responsibility, and the role of the Tutor will never be more than advisor.
2.3. Acceptance of these Terms will also be understood to signify acceptance of The Law Tutors Limited Privacy Policy.
3. Charges for tuition
3.1. The Student will be told in advance what the hourly rate is for tuition.
3.2. All classes or programmes are prepaid.
3.3. The Tutor may permit classes to begin pending payment by the Student and will advise the Student of this in advance.
3.4. In any event, a Student will not be permitted to accrue more than 2 hours deficit at any given time.
3.5. Any unused credit for hourly rate bookings can be used by the Student for future bookings (not for programmes).
3.6. Hours can be used as follows:
3.6.1. 1 hour for a 1 hour class
3.6.2. 2 hours per 1000 words (checking and improving draft answers)
3.6.3. 4 hours per 1000 words (notes production)
4. Cancellation
4.1. The Student must give notice of a class cancellation by email.
4.2. The email must be received by the Tutor at least 24 hours before the beginning of a class.
4.3. If the correct notice is not provided, the first hour of the class will be payable.
4.4. The Tutor may cancel a scheduled session or booking at their complete discretion. Any cancellation will not be chargeable, but will accrue ‘make up credit’ which can be used by the Student against further session(s) or booking(s).
4.5. For students on one of the programme packages or subscriptions, if hours for classes, marking, or drafting have not been used on the last working day of the month, they cannot be carried forward to the next month unless the Tutor has allowed (at their complete discretion).
4.6 The Tutor will not initiate contact to arrange sessions or marking / drafting work for those who are on subscription or programme tuition packages. The responsibility to use hours is entirely on the student.
4.7. The Tutor will where possible accommodate the student to facilitate use of hours to the best of their ability.
5. Liability/Damages
5.1. The Tutor accepts no liability for the outcome of any project they administer, or any academic judgement made upon a Student’s work by any educational institution or professional body with which they may be affiliated. Responsibility for the success or failure of their efforts rests ultimately with the Student.
5.2. Accepting these Terms constitutes an agreement to indemnify the Tutor, without limit, in respect of any claims arising out of, or relating to, tuition services arranged by the Tutor.
